Tower Hamlets Cemetery (2017)
After Abney Park in 2016 my next Magnificent 7 cemetery was Tower Hamlets in 2017. Tower Hamlets was established in 1841 in the London Borough of Tower Hamlets (E3 postcode). It was originally called the 'City of London and Tower Hamlets Cemetery' and was usually called 'Bow Cemetery' by the locals. Like Abney Park, Tower Hamlets is no longer a working cemetery and the last burials took place in 1966. Today it is a local nature reserve and park. Today many of the graves are hidden behind dense tangles of trees and vegetation which can make exploring it something of an adventure!
