Pack film image transfers
Polaroid pack film images transfer is a process that is essential a thing of the past. It used Polaroid color pack film, mainly Type 669 film, though other films like such as 125i and 100 Blue also worked albeit with some rather odd colours. You could use Fujifilm pack film, but I was never happy with the results. But since all these films are now out of productions this beautiful process is now dead and buried.
The image transfer process involves peeling apart the print unit after just 10-15 seconds instead of the normal time (which was usually 60-90 seconds for the film types that work with this process). The negative was then applied to a piece of water colour paper and left for the rest of the usual development time. When the negative was carefully lifted off the watercolour paper an image was left behind. Some people recommended using wet paper, but all the prints below used dry paper. Also, all the prints below used Polaroid Type 669 colour film. I found that as my stocks of 669 film got older the chemical got squidgier and squidgier and the resulting prints got blurrier and blurrier! But this is still one of my favourite Polaroid print making techniques and it makes me very sad that I am no longer able to get Type 669 film in good enough condition to get reliable results.
Because you have to make the image transfer print immediately after having pulled the print out of the camera, and making these prints really can't be done in the field, making them using a camera is just not practical. I used to use a device intended for making quick prints from 35mm slides (called a Vivitar Instant Slide Print) so the entire process could be done at home.
