Polaroid Waterscapes overflow
I am very happy to say that in November 2020 I was awarded a Royal Photographic Society Fellowship distinction in the Fine Art category called Polaroid Waterscapes. I thought it would be interesting to create a second gallery with some prints that didn't make it into my final submission.
Scotland
Sand patterns
Originally the middle row of my FRPS submission was going to be made up entirely of these sand pattern prints. To begin with I made prints using black & white film, then I remade the prints you see here using colour film. I really liked the way the folds and tears produced by the water in the emulsion lift printing process interacted with the sand patterns, particularly with black & white film. But I could never get the contrast quite right with black & white film. Colour film improved the contrast problem, but in the end I decided I just couldn't quite make the concept work, so I abandoned the whole idea!
Bulgaria
These prints eliminated themselves when I decided to focus my Polaroid Waterscapes portfolio specifically on Scotland.
