Elvaston Castle is a minor stately home on the outskirts of Derby, England. The grounds are open to the public as Elvaston Castle Country Park, but the house has stood empty and unused since the 1970s and is no longer open to the public. I visited Elvaston castle in March 2022 on an excellent Royal Photographic Society workshop lead by Martine Hamilton Knight to photograph the now semi-derelict interior.

The camera used for the first set of 36 photographs was a Sony A7 MkII. I used a selection of vintage manual focus lenses: a Minolta MD W.Rokkor 35mm f/1.8, a Minolta MD Rokkor 50mm f/1.4 and an Enna München MC Ennalyt 1:2.5/90mm lens from a 35mm slide projector.

I also took a Polaroid SX-70 Alpha 1 camera which I used for the second set of 9 Polaroid photographs.
