Chernobyl
In August/September 2019 I spent 2 weeks travelling around Ukraine and Moldova. You can see more of the photographs from this trip in my Ukraine/Moldova 2019 Flickr collection. I spent 2 days visiting Chernobyl durig that trip. It was by turns fascinating, moving and terrifying. But understanding Chernobyl is part of understanding Ukarine.
The photographs in this gallery were mostly taken in and around the abandoned city of Pripyat and the control building for the Duga millitary radar installation, but I decided to chose photographs that lean more towards abstraction, rather than well known landmarks. I took plenty of those too of course! And you can see them in my Day 3 and Day 4 albums on Flickr. But for this gallery I wanted to ceate a more subdued and contemplative set of images.
