West Norwood Cemetery (originally known as South Metropolitan Cemetery) was established in 1837 in the London Borough of Lambeth (postcode SE27). It was the very last Magnificent Cemetery I visited bringing the my 4 year project to an end in 2019. Like Nunhead it is rather more difficult to get to on public transport that the other Magnificent 7 cemeteries.

My first impression after finally making the effort to get there were a little disappointing! West Norwood is still a working cemetery so so is very much a combination of modern lawn cemetery and crematorium, and historic monument cemetery. Much of it lacks the gothic and overgrown atmosphere that is a mark of the other Magnificent 7 cemeteries. But the fortune corners are still there if you look, and despite my initial disappointment I ended up taking more photographs here than any of the other Magnificent 7 cemeteries and I'm certainly glad I made the effort.
